Chai, or masala chai, is a traditional Indian spiced tea beverage made by brewing black tea leaves with a blend of spices like ginger, cardamon and cinnamon and sweetened with sugar and served with milk. In the West, chai often refers to Chai Latte, a Westernised adaptation of masala chai that is a now a staple in most coffee shops.
